Controversial Deb

A section of this blog where I share some (controversial) views I have on things...

---------------------------------------------
Christians sometimes are seen as pushy. I have failed so many times at sharing my views on God in an attempt to let the other person see how awesome and meaningful God wants our lives to be!!
But the truth is that my life and my testimony will show God more than mere words can. So it's actually a big responsibility to claim to be a Christian.
I pray that when people see me, they can see something different.
And that no matter what other people believe or don't believe, do or don't do, Christians are supposed to LOVE one another. And that this Love may bless and bring joy to the people all around us.

May it grow, may the seeds that have been planted give fruit. They will. I'm learning by getting advice, examples, teachings and sowing in Spirit. And soon very soon I will bear more fruit.

What's your Religion?I must be honest, I really dislike the word Religion. It implies a series of rituals, habits and traditions that if one looks at the Bible, have NOTHING to do with what the Bible is about.
I believe in the Bible. And try to follow it every day of my life. I fail many times, but I've made a commitment to always ALWAYS live for God.

I made a DECISION to follow Jesus and be guided by the Bible, which I believe is His Word. A guide for us to help us live. It's amazing how it has answers for EVERYTHING.

So when asked "what's my religion", I usually say NONE :)

This week, especially in Brazil, there is a lot of talk about the Catholic religion. That, I will say is a religion, and the more I hear about it, the more I see that it has NOTHING to do with the Bible. It's like a distorted version of what Jesus tried to teach when He was here...

Most of my family calls themselves Catholics. Don't get me wrong, I love them a lot, but it makes NO sense to me to see a bunch of rituals being followed if they are NOT Christian principles AT ALL!

The latest news is the giving away of indulgences via twitter, which in my opinion just sounds like a marketing strategy to promote the event.

Please dear friend, where in the Bible does it say that someone other than God can grant you forgiveness for your sins? PLEASE, THINK!!! All this that is happening is completely nonsense!

There's not even "Christ" in "X-Mas" anymore.....

So I've been thinking, after Thanksgiving here in the US, the 2 Christian radio stations that I know (and MOST of any stores at the mall etc) ONLY play Christmas carols.

And not only that, it's as if now the whole focus of many many churches and Christian singers is to talk about the Christmas plays, Christmas songs, Christmas shopping,.... Christmas Christmas Christmas!

Maybe a little of bit of the importance of family, but bottom line is that it seems that it's all about Songs, Snow, Winter, Shopping, and the baby Jesus.

I can't help but wonder,
Shouldn't Christian radio stations (well, and anyone who's Christian) focus more on EASTER rather than CHRISTMAS**

It was His death that allowed us to be saved, not necessarily His birth (which is not even proven to have happened in December....)

LET EASTER BE THE REAL IMPORTANT
HOLIDAY OF THE YEAR!

**ps:
Note that nowadays, this word is a lot of time spelled "X-mas"...
Perhaps this abbreviation is a clear indication that to be honest, most people are not even really thinking about Christ this time of the year. They may think about His Birth, but that's where it stops. What He can actually DO in someone's life and what He's done and can DO (present tense) in people's lives, doesn't even cross people's minds... There's not enough time for that with all the errands to be run, the plays, shows, shopping, shopping, shopping, and singing of Christmas carols about His birth and the weather... )
